Not medical advice

Skinredients gives general information about cosmetic ingredients. It is not a diagnosis, a treatment or a substitute for a dermatologist. A comedogenic rating describes what happened in a specific laboratory test, usually on rabbit ears or on the upper backs of volunteers, at a specific concentration. Whether a finished product causes breakouts on your skin depends on the whole formula, how much of each ingredient it contains, how you use it, and your skin. A flagged ingredient does not mean a product will break you out, and an unflagged list does not mean it won't.

Stop using a product that irritates your skin, and see a doctor for persistent acne, a rash or anything that worries you.

Accuracy

We cite a source for every rating and try to transcribe it exactly, but studies disagree, names on labels vary, and mistakes happen. Check the cited study if a decision matters to you, and tell us about errors.

Affiliate disclosure

Skinredients does not currently contain affiliate links or paid placements. If we add links to products in future, some may be affiliate links that pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Any such link will be labeled where it appears, and commissions will never change an ingredient's rating or which ingredients the checker flags.
